Getting Started

Learn how the VRC Volunteer Portal works and how to get started.

What is the VRC Volunteer Portal?

The VRC Volunteer Portal helps youth and adults find volunteer opportunities, join volunteer teams, and track their service hours. It is operated by Valley Robotics Club (VRC), a registered nonprofit organization.

Who can use the Volunteer Portal?

The portal is designed for both youth and adult volunteers. Individual opportunities and teams may have their own age or participation requirements.

Do I need an account?

You can browse teams and opportunities without an account. An account is required to join a team, create a team, or log volunteer hours.

Volunteer Teams

Find out how to join a volunteer team, become a member, or start a team of your own.

What is a Volunteer Team?

A Volunteer Team is a group of volunteers who work together on service activities, projects, or community initiatives. Teams may focus on STEM, education, community service, the environment, arts, sports, or other causes.

How do I join a Volunteer Team?

Visit Find a Team, choose a team that interests you, and submit a membership application. Once the Team Leader approves your application, the team will appear in your dashboard.

Can I create my own Volunteer Team?

Yes. Registered users can submit a Create a Team application. VRC will review the application before the team is published.

Can I belong to more than one team?

Yes. Volunteers may participate in multiple teams as long as they meet each team’s requirements and their memberships have been approved.

Volunteer Hours

Learn how to log, review, and verify your volunteer service hours.

How do I log volunteer hours?

You must first be an active member of a Volunteer Team. Once approved, you can use Log Volunteer Hours to submit your activity, date, hours, description, and supporting documentation when applicable.

Why do I have to belong to a team before logging hours?

Volunteer hours on the VRC Portal are intended to represent verifiable community service, rather than function as a personal time-tracking system. Team membership allows authorized leaders to review submitted service activities.

Who verifies my volunteer hours?

Submitted hours may be reviewed by authorized Team Leaders or VRC administrators. Hours remain pending until they are reviewed.

What happens if my volunteer hours are rejected?

If a submission cannot be verified or needs additional information, it may be rejected with a reason. You can review the feedback and submit an updated record when appropriate.

Service Records & Recognition

Understand how verified service records can document your volunteer experience and support eligible recognition programs.

Can I use my verified hours for awards or other programs?

Verified records can help document your community service and may support eligible service or recognition programs. Each outside program determines its own eligibility, documentation, and approval requirements.

Can VRC verify my volunteer service?

VRC can maintain records of service submitted and verified through the Volunteer Portal. Whether those records satisfy a school, award program, organization, or other third party depends on that organization’s requirements.

Youth Leadership at VRC

Explore how VRC students can grow through service, mentoring, and leadership opportunities.

Can students volunteer with Valley Robotics Club?

Yes. Middle and high school students can participate in VRC programs and service activities, including supporting younger students, assisting with classes and events, and participating in community outreach.

How does the VRC Student Leadership Pathway work?

Students may grow through the following pathway:
Volunteer → Student Coach → Student Mentor → Program Coordinator → Vice President → President
Advancement is based on experience, responsibility, participation, leadership, and available roles. It is not automatic based solely on volunteer hours.
